Program Schedule

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Advances in Mineral Metabolism AIMM/ASBMR John Haddad Young Investigator Meeting had to be cancelled in April and then was still unable to be held in September 2020.   We are currently planning to hold the 2021 meeting with most aspects of the 2020 program, including the 2020 Young Investigators, and will be celebrating our 35th anniversary.  The meeting will take place from Monday, April 5th to Friday, April 9th.

The 2021 AIMM meeting will take again place at the Stonebridge Inn in Snowmass Village.  The hotel provides COVID-19 UPDATES, which include access to State and County restrictions, on their webpage:
 https://www.destinationhotels.com/stonebridge-inn/hotel/covid-19-updates-sbi

We understand there is still some question as to whether a meeting can be held responsibly with the ongoing pandemic.  Particularly, the recent increases in cases worldwide and in the USA, do not necessarily bode well. However, on the other hand, we have some optimism, as some of our AIMM members already have been vaccinated.

Please note: we are developing a plan for both deciding if we can hold a meeting safely and ensuring safety at the meeting. Criteria for going ahead with the meeting will be based on public health guidelines in Colorado and Pitkin County, as well as Snowmass Village and the Stonebridge Inn. We will also consider the guidelines of other states with high quality public safety standards.

Plans that we will put in place at the meeting to reduce disease transmission will include, but are not limited to:

(1) Reducing the overall meeting attendance maximum from 80 to 30 attendees (a density required by local
authorities), and increasing the conference room space.

(2) Livestreaming the meeting using Zoom will permit individuals to either stay in their rooms for sessions in

Snowmass, or to access sessions remotely. This will also permit us to shift the meeting to a completely
virtual format if that becomes necessary.

(3) Group meals, including breakfast & two dinners, will be plated, instead of buffet.

(At this point, we will not be able to accommodate families/guests at the meals.)

(4) Sanitation and screening protocols will be in place.

(5) Masks will be required.

These elements will continue to evolve as meeting planning progresses and as new information becomes available.

As always, the goal of this conference is to discuss important or evolving concepts in bone biology and clinical bone disease in a small and informal group setting. Past participants in this meeting have enjoyed the relaxed environment and serious scientific and clinical discussions… and keep coming back!

The atmosphere is enhanced by breaks, as well as breakfasts and some dinners together, which provide a great opportunity for young and more established investigators to discuss science and mentoring in a more casual setting. We are hoping to plan other activities in this gorgeous setting. One of the enjoyable features of this meeting has been the ability to combine an interesting scientific medical program with family recreation. We encourage you to bring your families!
